A Single Second
- From Interstate Companies' Safety Manual

It takes a minute to write a safety rule.
It takes an hour to hold a safety meeting.
It takes a week to plan a safety program.
It takes a month to put it into operation.
It takes a year to win a safety award.
It takes a lifetime to make a safe worker.
But it takes only "a single second" to destroy it all - with one accident.
ABC Saves You Money With Safety

With the economic down turn in the construction market place, many construction companies are downsizing and have laid off critical employees. For small and medium-sized companies this often means that the owner or office manager doubles as the safety officer.  With growing regulations and increased focus on safety in the workplace, companies are looking for new ways to manage jobsites.  One trade association has developed a new solution to this problem that helps firms maintain best practices in safety.

Minnesota (ABC) has responded to contractor demands for outsourcing safety services and operations by providing part-time staff to assist members with their safety needs.  With this option, members are able to select from a variety of safety services, and can tailor services to their needs.  Donny Hines will provide the services and has over 24 years of safety experience bothin general industry and construction. He is also an Authorized OSHA OutreachTrainer for construction and has shown a strong committment to helping the construction industry.

Under the Safety Services program, companies can contract with Hines to perform safety audits, set up safety manuals, or provide custom safety training for construction companies. While few small construction firms can afford a full-time safety director, Hines can provide contract for as little as one day a month to help companies set up a safety program. “The idea is to be flexible to address the company’s needs,” said Hines.  “Through having a wide scope of practice, this service will be able to employ the latest in safety practices while customizing safety procedures to each company’s unique situation.”
