March 28, 2006 MN ABC Signs OSHA Partnership
Click here for full copy of partnership agreement The Minnesota Chapter of Associated Builders & Contractors (MN ABC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Division of the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry. (MN OSHA) announce that they will be participating in a partnership program.
In October 2004, the MN ABC and MN OSHA met to discuss a partnership charter that mutually recognized the importance of providing a safe and healthful work environment in the construction industry in addition to formalizing a long-standing relationship between the two organizations.
Don Hines, ABC Safety Committee Chair said, “In advancing mutual goals the two organizations strongly agreed on the need to develop a working relationship that creates mutual trust and respect for the roles of each organization in the construction safety process.” It was agreed upon that the Partnership agreement would be the basis for the local agreement.
This partnership agreement has been negotiated between the MN ABC and MNOSHA Office representing Minnesota. Owners, members and other organizations are encouraged to endorse and participate as signatory partners in this partnership.
The program is expected to result in decreased serious injuries, illnesses, and fatalities for participating contractors and the improvement of existing safety and health programs within the State of Minnesota. It provides for incentives to construction contractors that voluntarily participate in the program and demonstrate implementation of effective safety and health programs.
Representatives signing the partnership includes: Scott Brener, the Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Labor, Roslyn Wade the Assistant Commissioner of Work Place Services, Jeff Isakson, Director of OSHA Compliance and Tyrone Taylor of Construction Supervisor, OSHA Compliance, Nancy Jones MN ABC Chairman of the Board, Robert Heise, President of MN ABC, Don Hines MNABC Safety Committee Chair, Steve Schultz MN ABC Partnership and Kris Pilling-Davis, Education Director of MN ABC will participate in the signing on March 28th.
