Networking Opportunities-ABC members enjoy an opportunity to get to know one another better and meet new ABC members. Political Action-ABC national has a large staff devoted to handling legislation and current regulations on the federal level, while the Chapter Legislative Director covers the Minnesota legislature and regulatory agencies. We promote pieces of legislation that are beneficial to the merit shop construction industry and inform ABC members of legislation that could be detrimental for their companies. Recently, ABC was named as one of the top fifty most influential organizations in Washington D.C. Publications- Minnesota ABC distributes a Bi-Monthly magazine entitled "Building Minnesota" that helps our members keep up with political activity, events, safety and education. ABC offers advertising space in the magazine, which is distributed to to all ABC members plus many construction end users. ABC National also has a bimonthly newsletter entitled “Construction Executive" allowing members an opportunity to monitor progress and issues throughout the nation. "Excellence in Construction"- ABC offers an annual awards program with a wide variety of categories that any member contractor can enter. The program promotes the quality of construction merit shop contractors provide. ABC provides publicity for the winning firms. The Construction Users' Guide publishes an insert of the program with all winning projects, their descriptions and pictures. The program is also given a special section in "Building Minnesota" and on the Minnesota Chapter website. Directories- Minnesota ABC publishes an annual directory with listings of all ABC members, both alphabetical and categorical, that are used on a daily basis. The directory is supplied to all members as well as architects, construction users, and engineers. Advertising opportunities are available in the directory to allow advertisers a long shelf life and frequency rate within the construction industry. ABC National also includes members in the Website Directory. This directory is frequently used by members to select contractors, suppliers, and other members putting projects together out-of-state. Construction Referral Service-A database is kept both on a state and national level of all ABC members and it is marketed to construction users. Construction users call in and request information on contractors and suppliers who meet specific criteria and a list is provided to them free of charge. From this list they have the opportunity to select potential contractors and suppliers to solicit bids from.
